For instance, a player who is playing on the right hand side of the page is able to move around the page a little bit at a time, but if you go one way, you can’t move the other way. This was a game I had been playing for a long time.

That’s a good idea, but you are going to have to get a little creative. For instance, I think you could put a picture over the top of the page, and then give the user an option to resize it. Then when the user decides to move the picture, the page can be moved again, which would be the same.
